Sometimes when things don’t work as planned, it’s for a reason we can’t foresee in the moment.
Friday night my girls and I had planned our outfits, and drove to church for a women’s event. It was going to be such a special evening. But it felt like everything had conspired against us to keep us from going.
Traffic was awful. Which I had planned for, but obviously not enough. By the time we got inside, there was no room in the auditorium for us…and I was over it.
If I was going to watch on screen, I could escape the hell of the parking lot when the event was over, and leave before it even began. So we left.
Not 10 minutes after I was home, my ostomy bag started leaking. If everything had gone smoothly and we had stayed, my night (and my white shirt) would have been infinitely worse. I am so glad we left!!!
(I do keep emergency supplies in my bag, but there are so many contingencies that I can’t plan for…I’ll leave that at that.)
So maybe sometimes things don’t work out because you’re being saved from a fate worse than just turning around and going home after driving over an hour and a half to get there.
Here’s a picture of me and my beautiful kids.
