Sermon Notes : The Prayers You’re Not Proud Of

• James 5:16-18
• You must be praying wrong. 
• Psalm 58:6-8
• The prayer you’re not proud of is better than the prayer that you won’t pray. 
• Start where you are to get where God is. 
• Righteousness that comes from faith in Jesus comes from being forgiven. 
• It’s a gift you’ve received. 
• The condition of forgiveness is confession. 
• The question isn’t are you holy enough for God to hear, it’s are you humble enough for you ask him to. 
• Ruminating isn’t prayer. 
• Luke 18:9-14
• Pray without pointing. 
• Pray anyway. 
• God can turn a mumble into a miracle. 
• Sincerity and energy. 
• Don’t trust the summary, there’s more to it. 
• Stop just praying about the situation and start praying about the sin that brought about the situation. 
• When you call on God with a humble heart you can expect 3 things
  • Provision you can’t predict.
• 1 Kings 17:1-10
• God will direct you in the drought. 
• If you seek the kingdom the things get thrown in. 
• You can expect God to move but you don’t get to tell him how to do it. 
• Are you willing to embrace what you’re given even if it comes through something you’d like to avoid?
• We don’t get to give God deadlines and stipulations. 
• Everything else is a resource, God is THE source. 
• God will always provide for you as you fulfill his purpose. 
• Sometimes obeying is praying. 
• If you’ve never asked God if he’s here you’ve never stepped out in faith.
  • Process that isn’t pretty. 
• A praise report is just a summary. 
• 1 Kings 18:42
• When you’re praying for something don’t be surprised if there’s pain there. 
• I pray that God will do a work in me.
  • Prayers you’re not proud of. 
• He wasn’t running for his life, he was running from it. 
• 1 Kings 19:1-6
• Have you ever prayed an I give up prayer?
• God can use the prayers we aren’t proud of. 
• God won’t always give what you ask for, but rather what you need. 
• You serve a get up God even when you say a give up prayer. 
• Not an escape but what you need to make it through this trial. 
• There’s bread by your head. 
• If the pain stops the purpose can stop with it. 
• He’s not gonna make it stop, he’s gonna make you strong. 
• He’s not done with you yet. 
• Matthew 7:9-11
