We recently adopted a puppy named Ellie. She is a French Bulldog and has quickly become such a light in our family. Isn’t she the cutest?! 🥰
I’m sure you’ve noticed a lack of new posts lately. Well, the truth is that I’ve been struggling mentally for a while now. I don’t love our new city, and so many other personal things that have been going on…I’ve been pretty down in the dumps lately.
An issue that I have, is when I struggle, I don’t dig deeper into my faith like a lot of people do. I immediately cut off everything. So, where I usually start my day reading the Bible and working on personal development…I’ve been doing none of that. I also haven’t been watching the sermons from Pastor Steven, which is why there are no weekly updates with my sermon notes.
To be clear, I expected this struggle. I’m on a journey with a new volunteer team through Elevation that is not even formed yet, but it involves training to become a mental health coach. So no, I’m not the least bit surprised that I’m going through right now. I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel though…so I know I’ll be back to posting my sermon notes soon.
I’ve also been in a huge reading slump as well…which is just insult to injury for me. When that happens, I retreat back to the books that make me happy and feel like old friends. I’m about finished with Harry Potter, and will then move on to…you guessed it! A Song of Ice and Fire. I do hope to start posting book reviews again as well. I’m so far behind on them that I’m super ashamed. (I’m starting to think my Goodreads challenge may be a lost cause this year.)
General Health Update
Today I have to head to the hospital to get my latest infusion for Crohn’s disease. Hopefully can get all of the inflammation taken care of so that I can be rid of the colostomy bag. I’ve been so grateful to have it because I haven’t been in any pain, but it’s getting old just dealing with the daily ins and outs of the whole process.
As I mentioned, we got a puppy! Currently working on potty training, and how to keep her from biting feet as your trying to do anything.
The girls are starting back with homeschooling in a couple of weeks – definitely picked a right time to start that.
Eric and I are doing mostly good. We’ve been a bit disconnected lately, but are finding our way back to each other. There are some things that we are having trouble compromising on, and really no matter which way the situation resolves itself one of us is going to be deeply unhappy. But, as I said we are back in a more positive place which is awesome because that coupled with everything else was just too much to bear some days.
That’s really everything going on here at the moment. Even putting these words on the screen feels like a huge win for me today, so instead of scrutinizing every word I’m just going to hit the publish button.
I pray, dear reader, that each of you are remaining healthy and safe during this season of Covid. Everything has kind of been a 💩 show lately, but hopefully everyone will wear a mask and the country can get it under control. (Also, be sure you register to vote!)
That’s all from me for now. It won’t take so long to update next time. And you can expect a wider variety of posts that include more than just sermon notes and book reviews. 😅
Have an amazing day! – Renee 💛
