Hi friends! Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the cookbook by Lauren Allen – Tastes Better From Scratch.

I’ve followed Lauren on Instagram for a while now and some of my family’s favorite dinners I’ve made are her recipes. Her cookbook is out now, and so to celebrate I chose a couple of the included recipes to make.
First Up : Apple Crisp
Honestly I picked the perfect day to make this one. Eric had been outside for a few hours mowing, and we’d turned our heat on earlier in the week. Some friends had given us some apples they’d gotten fresh from the orchard so I was beyond thrilled to try this recipe out.
We were not disappointed. The filling was perfectly spiced, and the topping was decadent and delightful. I served mine with maple vanilla whipped cream, but honestly it needed no topping whatsoever. This will be a staple in my house for years to come.
Next Up : Chicken Gyros
Lauren’s chicken gyro recipe was one that I wish I had made enough for leftovers. Long after the meal was finished, my husband and I were commenting how we wish we had more to snack on. The marinade was flavorful, but not overpowering. Her tzatziki recipe was the best complement. I made some fresh pita to serve these on and loaded them up for the perfect meal. Give me all the feta, please!
