Hi friends! Today’s book thoughts are for After Paris by Nicole Kennedy.
*Disclaimer : I received a copy of this book for free from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
After Paris tells the story of 3 friends who were thrown together randomly at a debutante ball in Paris. Alice, Nina and Jules (along with Teddy) all decide to spur of the moment skip the ball and explore the city together. That one night forged lifelong friendships between them.
Each year they return to Paris, although the span of time lengthens to a couple of years when we pick up the story.
Weaved through the pages of the current timeline is a backstory that collides with the present.
Addictions, abortions and affairs are all present here. And each of the women have their own reasons for being out of contact, and for being hurt by the lack of contact.
Also, I have to say that I had so much second hand stress from this book that I could not stop reading until I found out what was happening.
But after everything explodes, and the dust settles…we see that everything has ended up as it should.
I enjoyed this book a lot, and would recommend it. Paris sounds dreamy, and I would love to visit one day with my own best friends.
This would be the perfect beach read, or travel buddy.
