Description :

Journalist Ava takes a DNA test hoping to discover her roots. Instead, she finds out she has a half-sister … whilst on a live stream watched by 100,000 people. Her boss thinks it’s the perfect click-bait story. Ava just wants to go to Moira’s tiny Scottish village and meet her.

But when Ava arrives undercover as a volunteer farmhand, she realises Moira – who’s her pig-wrestling, chatterbox polar opposite – might not be delighted by the news. And the longer Ava stays in Kilroch, with its inappropriately attractive reverend and ties to her hidden family past, the more complicated this surprise is going to get…

My Review : The Sister Surprise

On the whole, this was a fun book to read.

We are entwined in the story of Ava and Moira who are half sisters but don’t know it yet…

After Ava receives the DNA results live on tv and immediately goes viral for very unwanted reasons, she travels to Scotland to see if she can find her sister. There she has found work on a farm in order to have a roof over her head. And this is where we meet Kian. Trust me – hilarity ensues!

Under the presumption that their dad had died in an explosion, she struggles with how to break the news without breaking the delicate dynamic of Moira and her mother.

Things really come to a head after Ava finds out she’s been betrayed by her boss. After that, it seems as though the town will turn on her. All the while, they are trying to save the farm.

Romances, stubborn barn yard animals and a sweet cast round out this novel.
