Hi friends! I hope you’re doing wonderfully. Today I’m going to tell you all how I completely simplified my cleaning routine.
In the past, I’ve always cleaned the house on Friday. I can’t say it was top to bottom, because I did not do a thorough job most times. Many days I went through quickly just to cross the items off of my to do list.
However, since we’ve moved, I wanted to take a better approach to how I cleaned the house and do a more deep clean in order to help maintain a cleaner house overall. I will preface this by saying that this means that there is no one day where every part of the house is organized, but that’s okay.
I’ve started blocking my days so that each day I tackle a new part of the house. Monday is for bathrooms, Tuesday is for the kitchen, Wednesday is for the living room/dining room area, and Thursday is for our bedroom and the upstairs hallway. (Our house is on the smallish side, so combining rooms does not add to the overall time taken by much at all.)
I also do all of the laundry associated with that room on the day that I clean it. Today I cleaner Eric and my bedroom, so I washed the bedding. Bath linens, couch blankets all get washed on the day the room is cleaned.
This may be old tricks for you, but for me this has changed my life! No more spending all day Friday doing laundry, because I do the daily laundry everyday and the other specific those days. The girls are in charge of washing their own laundry, so that is another load (pun intended ?) off of my shoulders.
This frees up a lot of anxiety for me too thinking about all the things that I “should” be doing throughout the day as a stay at home mom.
Simplified cleaning lists have opened up a lot more time for me to pursue some new hobbies, too. I made the candle in the photo! (Aren’t these jars the cutest?!)
Anyway, this helped me so I thought someone else might find it useful, too. Thanks for taking the time to read today. ?
(If anyone wants to see a breakdown of each room, let me know in the comments and I will make a list.)
