Hi friend! Today I’m going to tell you why my to do list is my enemy these days.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I get the most satisfaction crossing off each item in my planner.

However, it’s come to the point where I see myself as a success or a failure based on whether or not I get each item crossed off each day.

It’s getting to be exhausting.

to do list is my enemy

Tonight at dinner, my husband and I had a great conversation. He quoted a pastor, or someone he heard mention something about to do lists. And it really got my mind churning.

The gist is that you are not defined by what you can accomplish in one day…which is something that I need to preach to myself.

As I’m sitting here listening to John Mayer’s newest album, I should be relishing in how much I actually did get done today. But all I can see are the squares that are not filled in next to tasks unfinished.

Just to give you a frame of reference…

There are 60 items on my list for today; I have checked off 43 of them. The ones left are part of my daily rhythm that I like to progress through each day, but don’t always make it through that because there are more important things to finish. But I crossed 43!!! things off my list today. That’s a lot. So now I’m going to celebrate, and eat a spoonful of cream cheese frosting. I deserve that today, right? 😅

Do you face a similar dilemma? If you have overcome this, I’d love to hear your story as well.

Leave me a comment letting me know how you conquer your to do list without it conquering you. ⤵️

Also, thank you for taking the time to read today. 🏝
