Hi friends. Today I’m going to tell you how I’m finally, at 36, taking care of my body.
These are just a few helpful things that I have implemented pretty recently. While I’d love to tell you that the secret to a little of my success has been to drink all of the water…I haven’t been able to accomplish that goal regularly yet. 😩
Daily Dog Walks
Now that we have a dog, she obviously needs exercise too. This has motivated me to begin taking her on 2 walks around our neighborhood each day. We are so blessed with where we live right now, that it’s quiet and yet so full of other dog loving people who are out continually. Ellie has refused to make friends as of writing this, but I’m still holding out hope.
Now, of course it is July, so it’s hot. But when it was a little cooler we were averaging about 3.6 miles total on our daily walks. It was really great for both of us. Being that it is so hot right now though, we are doing considerably less than that since I don’t want to harm her. Walking also gives a double benefit of getting some much needed sunshine in as well.
Yoga Every Day
This is a big one for me because I have a tendency to get really bored with workouts. So the fact that I have stuck with doing the same yoga program everyday for the past few weeks is a huge accomplishment. It’s 40 minutes and while it is a little bit relaxing, it still feels like a workout and that I will see some major benefits if I just stick to it. I’ve been doing the Body By Bethenny yoga. If you’re a fan of the Real Housewives franchise, Bethenny will probably look familiar to you.
The biggest reason I’m failing on the scale is because my diet sucks. Seriously. I eat like my kids, and that is not something to be proud of. Dinner’s are usually pretty good health-wise, but during the day I eat garbage. Just a few weeks ago, I started taking a greens supplement, and this past week I’ve been taking collagen. As most of the benefits of these 2 are internal, I have nothing to compare it to at this point, except to say that at least I’m getting something green into me. 😅 I’ve recently been more intentional with what I eat – but I still have a long way to go.
I’m not going to lie – up until very recently I had been using the same skin care products for the past 15 years. I wish that I could tell you that my skin still looks like I’m in my 20’s…but it definitely does not. I really splurged on some skin care products recently. I’ll be the first to admit that it’s not something I had ever invested anymore than $15 in for a serum here or there. So doing a total upgrade really made me feel like an adult. Once again, it’s too soon to post about any real visible results, but I can tell you from my personal standpoint that my skin is definitely a lot more glowing and supple. This last one hurts the most…
Cutting Caffeine a Little Bit…
I definitely will not be giving up my espresso anytime soon, but I have stopped drinking the half pot of drip coffee each day, and have seen a big difference in my anxiety levels. I’m still getting caffeine in other ways – drinking tea in the afternoon, for example. But by not consuming it all so quickly in the morning first thing, I’ve seen a drastic difference. It was a hard adjustment at first – fatigue and headaches were in abundance! But the benefits outweigh that right now.
So there are some ways that I’m finally taking care of my body. What is something that you can do to help yourself out today? Let me know in the comments. ⤵️
